Isaac started carving at the age of 16 or 17. he learned carving by watching other carvers and
Isaac used scraps of soapstone from local people, and from Qullisajanniavik, which is in Tukajak Island. Isaac have to go out camping to the mining place, he doesn’t bring honda with him. Most of the time local people bring honda so Isaac gets the opportunity using one. “It’s a lot of hard work, when you don’t have much tools. I always get help.” says Isaac during the interview.
Isaac is still very much active but recently has no soapstone. He doesn’t sit around, he does go out and look for job. Last time he was asked to work at the gas station. “It’s casual work.” Eyaituk was born in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut. Likes hunting and fishing during spring and summer.
